Junior Cius
Bio
Junior Cius is a Boston certified artist and an international dance instructor and choreographer. With a background in street dance: Hip-hop, Popping, Breaking and Dancehall, combined with his experience in commercial and contemporary movement, he has developed his own unique style.
His formal training began shortly after graduating high school in 2010. He began teaching and performing professionally in 2013. In 2014, Junior was invited to perform a half-choreographed, half-improvised piece, with dance partner Kaylee “Impavido” Millis, of the hit show “So You Think You Can Dance.” It was performed at the Pulse Dance Convention choreographers ball in New York City and received a standing ovation from the audience, including the convention’s instructors. In 2015, he established a dance company “Crewnex” which performed and held its own workshops called “PUSH.”
Among his crowning achievements is his selection to the Monsters of Hip Hop Cast in 2016. Cius was one of few dancers selected to learn and perform works taught by some of the pop and hip hop music industries’ most successful choreographers, in front of an audience of talent agents and industry professionals.
In 2019, he became a recipient of the Next Steps for Boston Dance. Later that year Junior Cius kicked off his first international teaching tour, traveling to London, Switzerland, Germany. He continues to travel throughout the states and abroad to teach. Most recently, Junior was invited to Colombia to teach, Judge and Showcase at one of Medellin Major dance competitions. He hopes to bring all that he’s learned back to his Boston Community!
Class Description
Intermediate/Advanced Choreography: This class is open to all levels. Class will begin with a warmup consisting of groove focused follow-alongs, drills and stretching. Once we’re fully warm, we will begin learning a street dance combinations. Our focus is to develop an understanding of timing, texture, muscality, footwork, weight shifts, spatial awareness, presence and performance.
